Cyprian Kamil Norwid o Wigilii

Congressman Clement Zablocki Civic Achievement Award

On November 13, the beautiful Polish Center of Wisconsin just south of Milwaukee was filled to capacity for the 14th annual Polish Independence Day/Veterans Day dinner. This year’s event, sponsored by the Wisconsin Division of the Polish American Congress, honored outstanding three young Milwaukeeans, Lt Col Ernest Litynski, Captain Brent Tadych, and Sgt Glenn Ramski. All are veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

Lt Col Litynski and Sgt Ramski were awarded Poland’s Star of Iraq medal. Litynski also received Poland’s Star of Afghanistan medal. Consul Robert Rusiecki of the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Chicago presented these medals in recognition of their significant service with allied Polish military units in the Middle East.

Captain Tadych, Lt Col Litynski, and Sgt Ramski were all awarded the historic Paderewski Medal of Service from the Polish Army Veterans Association by its representative in Milwaukee, Mr. Ted Cisek.

The Mayor of Milwaukee, Thomas Barrett, spoke at the dinner. He was followed by PNA Vice President Paul Odrobina, representing Polish American Congress and PNA President Frank J. Spula. Vice President Odrobina congratulated the honorees on their service to our country and underscored our Polish fraternals’ contributions to the work of the PAC. He noted that “It is through the Polish American Congress that we as Polish Americans can effectively express our concerns and objectives – to our government and our fellow citizens. And it is at events like this that we can come together to celebrate our rich heritage.”

The Polish National Alliance was very well represented at the event. Among those present were National Director Hedy Rabiega, District Commissioner and past Director, County Supervisor Mark Borkowski, newly elected District Commissioner Theresa Jankowski, past Commissioner Carole Gillette, and past Director Donald Pienkos, along with many other PNA members.

Janine Adamczyk, President of the Polish Heritage Alliance, sponsor of the Polish Center, again hosted the Polish Independence Day/Veterans Day dinner. Janine is also President of the Milwaukee Society of the Polish National Alliance. Janine and her fellow fraternalists truly embody the spirit of the historic PNA motto, “W Jednosci, Sila!” Together, We ARE Strong!

The Wisconsin PAC expresses its Thanks to all who attended this year’s event, at which we celebrate the anniversary of Poland’s declaration of independence on November 11, 1918 and honor Veterans Day in our country.

Wisconsin State Division, Polish American Congress
