A talk about great Polish mathematicians, who changed the world by their ground-breaking contributions to astronomy, mathematics and code breaking. Cast on the panorama of fascinating places to see in beautiful Kraków (Poland) visited at the time of the Jubilee Congress of Polish Mathematicians (September 2019), a pinnacle of nationwide celebrations of 2019 as the Year of Mathematics. Among the highlights of Kraków’s events was the induction into the Polish National Pantheon of three Polish cryptologists (Marian Rejewski, Henryk Zygalski and Jerzy Różycki), the key players in cracking the Enigma code used to encrypt German secret messages before and during the World War II.
